Today was the last day of school for the Pre-K students at St. Patrick. Many of them will be heading off to Kindergarten in the fall. To celebrate we had a luau party. Check out the photo of me and my buddy Jacob (cool tie dye shirt that he made in school).

Best of luck to all my friends and have a great summer. Hope to see you again this fall.

Wiki's with Bob the Bear!

Hey Guys! Add VideoIt's Morpheus! I am so excited to tell you guys where I am today! I am here at Mechanicsburg Middle School with Wilkes University graduate teacher education students. Today I learned how to make a brand new wiki website. It's so easy, all you need to remember is three easy steps: edit, link, and save and then it's done!!!!!! Now my friend Bob the Bear can plan our camping trip for Memorial Day on Monday!!!!!!!! What a great day!

Googling Blog Turtles!!!!!!

At Mechanicsburg Middle School, I got to venture into a computer lab and joined a graduate class! It was so exciting, and I learned so much about technology. Now when someone tells me to 'google' something, I am an expert on it! I learned that when you put a '~' sign in front of a topic, it will being up similar words that relate to that topic when you search! I wanted to try out this awesome tip, so I goggled ~Bog Turtle. I came up with 74,900 hits all about my turtle family and friends! I couldn't believe how much information was on there! I feel like Bog Turtles are famous! I can't wait to get home and start googling! :)

Smartboards at Mechanicsburg

Today I visited a Wilkes University graduate class that meets at Mechanicsburg Middle School. The course is full of current teachers who are learning new ways to integrate technology into the classroom. I had a lot of fun!
I got the chance to practice using a smartboard today! The smartboard shows everything that is happening on a computer screen, just like a projector would. Smartboards are special because you can interact with them just like you would on the computer. If I wanted to scroll down on the screen, all I had to do was push the sidebar on the smartboard- I didn't need to use the computer at all! I also learned that I could use special pens on the smartboard, just like you would on a blackoard. These pens come in four different colors and are a lot of fun to use! I drew lots of pictures! I can't wait to use one again!

Sunday May 16, 2010 -- Baseball

After a great morning of learning about our history, I was off to watch the Harrisburg Senators play some baseball with my friends from St. Patrick School. Students from the school got to sing the National Anthem and they led the crowd in singing "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" during the 7th inning stretch.

Check out these photos from the game:

After this busy weekend of learning, I'm ready for a nap. Back at St. Patrick's tomorrow.

Sunday May 16, 2010 -- AHEC

After a great night's rest, we were "up and at 'em" for another great day of learning and fun. Of course, it started off with a good breakfast of homemade waffles. Yummy.

After breakfast I went with the Beeghley family to the Army Heritage Education Center (AHEC) for Army Heritage Days. This annual event allows visitors to see exhibits about soldiers from colonial times to today. I got to visit a World War I trench, Vietnam War bunkers, visit with Civil War soldiers and see lots of items related to our military history.

Here I am resting on a cot in a tent that was similar to the ones used by nurses during the Vietnam War.

This is my cousin Patriot Pete learning about World War I foxholes with a soldier.

These gentlemen are portraying soldiers from the 101st Airborne.

Here I am with a British Grenadier.

And the day wasn't over yet!! Stay tuned for my next stop...

Saturday May 15, 2010

Well today I had another great adventure. I started off my day by going to watch my friends from St. Patrick School run in a track meet. The Celtics from St. Pats won the meet and now the JV girls are 9-0, the JV boys are 8-0-1 and the varsity teams are both 8-1 this season.

Here are a few photos from the track meet:

From there we went to Armed Forces Day in Harrisburg. WOW!! There was so much to see and learn about our military. I saw helicopters, tanks, soldiers, veterans and so much more. We should all be very proud of these brave men and women who serve our country.

Here I am with my cousin Patriot Pete checking out one of the armored vehicles.

Getting a tour of a "Stryker" vehicle. Did you know that this thing weighs 39,569lbs!!

My friend Jacob and I sitting in the cockpit of a Blackhawk helicopter.

Until tomorrow...

Hanging Out with my Cousins

After a great day with my new friends at St. Patrick School in Carlisle, I'm now hanging out with my cousins Patriot Pete and Civil War Sallie.

I wonder what plans they have for the weekend. For now, we are enjoying the nice weather and catching up on our travels.
